Plumbing problems don't wait - neither do we!
High water pressure feels great in the shower, but it’s destroying your plumbing. Most homes around Holmen get water pressure somewhere between 40 and 80 PSI. Anything over 80 and you’re asking for problems. Pipes leak at the joints, fixtures wear out fast, and your water heater’s working way harder than it should.
A pressure regulator brings that pressure down to a safe level. It installs right where your main water line enters your house, and it controls how much pressure makes it into your pipes. Set it once, and it protects everything downstream.
If your faucets spray when you first turn them on, your pressure’s too high. Toilets that run constantly or fill valves that wear out every couple years show high pressure too. We’ve seen pressure over 100 PSI in some homes, especially ones on city water. That’ll wreck your plumbing in a hurry.
You can test your pressure yourself with a gauge from the hardware store. Screw it onto an outdoor faucet and turn the water on. If it reads over 80, you need a regulator. Some homes already have one, but they fail after 10 or 15 years and stop regulating properly.
Installing a new pressure regulator takes us a few hours. We shut off your main water supply, cut into the line near where it enters your house, and install the regulator. Then we set it to the right pressure (usually around 50 to 60 PSI) and test everything to make sure it’s working.
Your pipes will last longer, your fixtures won’t leak as much, and your water heater will thank you. It’s one of those fixes that prevents way bigger problems down the road.
