Water leaks don’t always announce themselves. Sometimes you’ll see water pooling under a sink or dripping from a ceiling. Other times, you just notice your water bill doubled for no reason, or you hear water running when nothing’s turned on. That’s a hidden leak somewhere in your walls or under your foundation.
We find and fix leaks all over Holmen and the surrounding areas. The obvious ones are easy: leaking faucets, toilets that run constantly, visible pipe drips. It’s the hidden leaks that cause real damage because they’ve been soaking your house for weeks or months before you noticed.
We use a few different methods depending on where we think the leak is. Sometimes we can hear it with acoustic equipment that picks up the sound of water moving through a crack. Other times we use moisture meters to scan walls and floors for wet spots you can’t see.
For slab leaks, which is when a pipe under your concrete foundation is leaking, we might use pressure testing or thermal imaging. These leaks are tricky because the water’s escaping under the house where you can’t see it. You’ll notice warm spots on your floor if it’s a hot water line, or your foundation might settle unevenly.
Once we find the leak, we fix it. That might mean cutting into a wall to replace a section of pipe, or accessing the area under your floor. For slab leaks, sometimes we reroute the pipe entirely instead of breaking through concrete.
The longer a leak goes unfixed, the more damage it causes. Mold grows in your walls, wood rots, drywall falls apart. We’ve seen leaks that cost way more to fix the house than to fix the pipe because they went unnoticed for too long.
