Plumbing problems don't wait - neither do we!
Toilets break. They run constantly, they don’t flush right, they leak at the base, or they just stop working altogether. Most people figure they can fix it themselves with a YouTube video and a trip to the hardware store. Sometimes that works. Other times you end up with a bigger mess and a flooded bathroom.
We fix toilets all day long around Holmen. It’s one of those things that seems simple until you’re dealing with it. The parts inside the tank wear out, seals go bad, the wax ring at the base fails and water leaks onto your floor. What started as a minor annoyance turns into water damage if you wait too long.
Running toilets waste a ton of water. Usually it’s the flapper valve that’s not sealing right, or the fill valve is stuck open. You’ll hear it running hours after anyone flushed. Your water bill goes up, and you’re paying to send clean water straight into the sewer.
Weak flushes mean something’s clogged in the trap or the holes under the rim are plugged with mineral buildup. Sometimes the flush valve isn’t opening all the way. We’ve also seen toilets where someone used those drop-in tank cleaners that ate away at the rubber parts inside.
Leaks at the base are serious. That’s usually a failed wax ring, and the water that’s leaking out isn’t clean water, it’s toilet water. It soaks into your subfloor and causes rot if you don’t fix it fast.
Most repairs take us under an hour. We replace the fill valve, flapper, or whatever’s broken. For leaks at the base, we pull the toilet, replace the wax ring, and reset it properly. If the toilet itself is cracked or too old to be worth fixing, we’ll tell you and help you pick out a replacement.
